The REVISTA BRASILEIRA DE PSICANALISE was first published in 1967, in São Paulo, Brazil. Although it had its origins in the São Paulo Brazilian Society of Psychoanalysis, since the beginning it has grown thanks to contribuitions by authors from all over the country, besides some translations of relevant works, by foreign authors.
It is published quarterly.

In 1971, the REVISTA became the official journal of the ASSOCIAÇÃO BRASILEIRA DE PSICANÁLISE (ABP), the Federation of all Brazilian Societies of Psychoanaysis and Study Groups of Psychoanalysis affiliated with the IPA.
